DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME...WHY?

It seems like every six months I have the same conversation, Why do we still need Daylight Saving Time? The kids were extra crazy (ours and at church), we were extra tired, and it just messes up everyone's schedules. Fortunately, it is Spring Break this week so we can ease into the time change.

I've cobbled together a plan for the week, so hopefully, we won't be too crazy and bored this week and we can enjoy the time off.

I forgot to mention the little adventure Addy and I went on yesterday. She hasn't been feeling too well lately. She has been complaining of a sore throat for over a week and doesn't seem to be getting better, in fact, she seems to be getting worse. So we headed to the doctor's office. I think the doctor thinks it really is just a cold, but since she has had a sore throat for so long and her symptoms are not getting better she gave Addy a prescription for Amoxicillin in case she has or is developing a sinus infection. Either way, by the time the prescription is done she should be better.

I have been REALLY enjoying this new curriculum at church. I have LOVED studying about Jesus.

My big take away lately is that Jesus isn't this perfect being we are striving to get to. Just like when He is in the multitude healing, just like when Jesus was feasting with Matthew and the publicans (a job the Jews found unsavory and beneath them), just like when he was in the boat and the storms came, He was RIGHT THERE. He wasn't a destination. He was right with those He was with. With Him, we are healed (if not physically, then definitely spiritually), He is with us in our daily tasks, with Him we are in the safest boat and will not sink. He is on the journey with us, not at the end waiting for us. He is always in our midst.

My other take away from this week's lesson is as follows. A little side story first. This week I came across a facebook post saying something along the lines of, "If you have enough faith, you can overcome and be cured of depression." 😳 I think a lot of times when we read the scriptures and read about all the people Jesus healed we just look at- Do you have the faith that Jesus will heal you? Yes? OK, you're healed. We don't look at the effort those people put into 1- getting that faith, 2- all the things they may have tried before appealing to Jesus for help, and 3- getting to Jesus.

  • Each person had to gain faith in Jesus. We don't know those stories, but they all had to put their trust in a man that many followed, but few understood, and many were actively trying to discredit or kill.
  • The leper saw Jesus and came to Him asking for healing.
  • The Centurian had to go looking for Jesus to ask to heal his servant.
  • Simon-Peter was a devout follower of Christ's and His first called Apostle. Jesus rewarded that faith and devotion by healing his mother-in-law.
  • The man with Palsy had to be brought to Jesus by friends and lowered into the house through the roof to get around the crowds.
  • Jarius had to travel and seek out Jesus. Jesus goes to the house and heals her in front of her parents and Peter, James and John.
  • The woman with the blood issue had for years sought out physicians to heal her and none were able to but had faith that she could be healed if she were to reach out her hand to touch the hem of Jesus' robe.
  • The blind men followed Jesus and begged for healing.
In each example the person had faith, but they also had to DO something before receiving healing. Faith alone wasn't enough, but it's often the only thing we see is needed. Faith without works is dead (James 2:26).
