February is here and like every other day, it came in quietly and like most other days. The kids went off to school. Ryan went to work. Brianna and I went to the gym (ok, not necessarily like every other day). The big bummer today is that Ryan officially has a nasty cold. It's day two of coughing and his rib muscles are already sore from coughing so much. Poor guy is miserable. And to make matters worse, or at least not any better, he's still working through a medicine change that he doesn't feel is doing all it should to get him back to "normal". Thankfully, we've hit the weekend and he can rest and recuperate and hopefully get better.
Brianna went to her art class at the gym. It's a little something the YMCA offers on Fridays and she seems to like going. At least it's one of my incentives to get her to go to the gym willingly and without a fight because she doesn't seem to like going much of the time. Despite her enjoying herself once we get there. There's also a wild turkey that lives in the woods next to the building. The staff leaves out food for her to munch on, so you can sometimes see her hanging out outside through the display windows.
I got to work out (I use that term slightly loosely as I pretty much walk and talk for an hour and then go home) with friends. I do try to at least walk a 5K in that hour, so I feel like I "worked" during my workout.

After working out, Brianna and I went over to Kelly's house, along with my other workout buddy Christa and another friend Sandra, to help her Marie Kondo her kitchen. She has a fairly large kitchen with all the cabinets in disarray and stuffed full of various kitchen and non-kitchen items, drawers crammed with things and items not necessarily logically placed, similar items in multiple places, and super cluttered countertops. We went in there and emptied out all her cabinets, went through what she wanted to keep and what she would let go, reorganized her drawers and cabinets, and cleared off her countertops so very few items were displayed.
She kept saying how much her husband will love what we did in there. I asked her later what his reaction was and her response was that he was amazed, went wild when he saw it and loved it! Just like Marie, we left her with homework to get her butler's pantry cleared out since it was jammed full of cleaning supplies and piles of papers. The cleaning supplies will be moved into the laundry room, which also got cleared out today, making way for her butler's pantry to become where she stores arts and crafts. It was really fun to be able to help her get her more organized and be able to spend the day talking and laughing with friends while we worked. I'm excited to see how much more she's done next time I go over there.

Kyra had a babysitting job tonight. She struggled a bit with the kids since they were quite different from the other kids she babysits. These kids were a year or so older to a year or so younger. They wanted to play and do things, but she didn't really know the kids so she was unsure what to do with them. I think it was a good lesson for her to be a little more prepared when going into a new babysitting job and to perhaps take her mama's suggestions to help her cook meals so she will know how to do it herself when she's babysitting or out on her own.

Addy had a chair test today. She made second-chair. She was in first-chair, so a small downgrade, but she's happy where she ended up.

Ryan's job is really picking up the pace. He's been working in this new position now for a month and while his meeting schedule is sparse, his responsibilities and expectations are raised. He has several things happening that his bosses want to be done ASAP. These are big, where are we at right now, and what strategies do you have for this and this to make it better and more effective. The pressure is on. Hopefully, he can heal over the weekend to be ready to go Monday.
