CRAZY, CRAZY DAY

Our family during the week seems like the same old, same old. Kids go to school, come home, whine about no screen time, I make dinner, we clean up, kids go to bed, we fight Brianna, and before we know it it's 10:30 or later. Wednesdays throw extra excitement with four kids into different activity groups. Kyra and Addy are in Young Women's, Griffin is in cub scouts, and Joselyn is in Activity Day Girls. All of which fill up our afternoon evenings, with little time for dinner.

Our schedule for the afternoon looks something like this:

  • 3:00- start kid pick-up
  • 4:00- I'm usually home by now and no screen time begins
  • 4:45- Activity Days
  • 5:30- Cub Scouts
  • 5:45- pick-up from activity days
  • 5:50/55- start getting dinner together
  • 6:30- hopefully dinner is done and older girls can eat; pick up from Cub Scouts
  • 7:00- Young Women's (and possible 15-20 minute drive to the church, like tonight); and dinner for the rest of us
  • 7:30- the first round of kids go to bed
  • 8:30- Older girls get home from Young Women's/last round of kids go to bed
So busy, busy, busy!!!

Today was Joselyn's first official day in Activity Day Girls. They have a lot of new girls since they changed the age of entry and allowing all girls turning eight this year to start in January. She was SOOOOO excited when told her she would be starting today. They did a get to know you activity and then decorated a little notebook to take notes at church and such.

Before the big changes, the Young Women would go into Primary on the Sunday the girl turns 12 and "kidnap" them from Primary to Young Women, where they would sing a special birthday song and give them a Leia of Lindt Chocolate (the wrappers would alternate yellow and black- like a bumble bee).

I went to the gym for the first time in a long time today. I just walked, but for 2.5 miles, and I'm a bit sore this evening. And I started watching "Tidying Up, with Marie Kondo". Now, I'm wondering if it's too early for Ryan to ask for a week off so we can tackle some of the methods talked about on the show to declutter.

Ryan is LOVING his new job. Before Christmas, his weekly schedule was top to bottom and oftentimes double or triple booked with meetings. He had a grand total of one thirty-minute meeting today and the rest of the day was devoted to organizing and prioritizing target items for the projects for the teams he oversees.
