The day started and ended with car trouble. This morning Ryan took the kids to school, while I did my morning routine of scripture study, but he didn't realize how little gas he had in the car. Well, he ran out of gas dropping off Addy. Which means I had to go get him and the elementary kids and drop them off at school, go pick up Kyra and Brianna, so we can drop Kyra off to school, run to the gas station for some gas, go back to get his car up and running and him off to work, go back home to get Bri ready for preschool, and me dressed for the gym.
I took Brianna to preschool and headed to the gym. Once there, since on days I drop her off I'm usually the last one to get there, I don't see my friends. One I knew was home with a sick kid, so I texted the other to see if she was on her way. She responded that things were crazy and that she wasn't going to make it either. Now after the morning I had I was REALLY tempted to walk out and head home, but I sucked it up, got on an elliptical, queued up a show on my phone and trudged out 5,000 "steps".
Afterward, I went home to shower, finish my interrupted scripture study and picked up Brianna. We had a lazy afternoon relaxing, and napping, until school pickup time. Once the big kids were home it was more of the same.
About 6:00, Ryan called to let me know he was on his way home. YAY! It was kind of a late night for him, so I was excited for him to be home. Fifteen minutes later he calls again letting me know his car has died in the middle of the tollway.
He calls Roadside Assistance and after an hour they tell him they can't help because he's in the tollway and they can't tow from there. He then calls the North Texas Toll Association (NTTA) and they tell him they can't help, but to call another place. The other place tells him they can't help but to call NTTA. He calls NTTA back and they call the Tarrant County Sheriff's office. The sheriff's office finally gets him in contact with someone who can help tow him and get him home. In the meantime, it's been nearly two-plus-hours. He's hungry, I'm home putting worried kids to bed wondering where their dad is and I don't know what to tell them other than the car is broken and he'll be home when he gets home.
The tow truck FINALLY gets there. It was quick once Ryan got ahold of the right people who could help, it just took FOREVER to figure out who that was. They get the car hooked up and dropped off at the car repair place. And the tow truck guy was nice enough to drop Ryan off at home...at 10 PM. Nearly four hours after this whole ordeal started.
It looks like the car needs a new alternator which will have to wait until payday. Until then we're going to have to deal with eight people needing to get to a lot of different places with one car. This ought to be a lot of fun...not!
After a crazy day, this little gem got us laughing like crazy. The kids rediscovered "Photo Booth" on my computer and have been playing with it. This is Alien Layla! LOVE. IT!!!!
