AND THERE WAS MOANING AND GNASHING OF TEETH

In an effort to get rid of the nightly conversation of:
Mom or Dad: "Okay, everybody. Time for bed."
Kid: "Oh, yeah. I need to work on homework."
After school screen time is over. We've had this schedule before, but I wasn't in a good head-place where I could successfully pull it off. Our new routine is at 4:00 all screens are turned off. The kids then have to do the following: homework, jobs, daily scripture study, and reading or playing if there is extra time. Then as I need to get dinner ready they can have screen time.

Needless to say, this was not met with much enthusiasm. "But why, mom?", or "Can you turn the internet back on?"- five minutes after 4. But I did not get an "Oh, yeah I have homework" when it was time for bed.

We have been struggling to put Brianna to bed at night. She fights it and fights it and fights it...for hours. Tonight, two-and-a-half hours. We are doing what we're supposed to. Don't talk to her, put her in bed, cover her up, and walk out, but man, oh, man. She is wearing us out. You'd think two against one, we'd have the upper hand, but she's got the stamina of a three-year-old on her side.
