Many years ago when I was pregnant with Kyra I started this blog to keep family and friends updated with our lives as a growing little family. I wasn't always the best at keeping it up (*cough, cough* the MANY blank years on this blog for example). But I always enjoyed looking back and seeing my babies.
From the humble beginning of this blog, our little family has grown into a big crazy family of eight. As much as I enjoy going back and seeing what we were up to in those early years, I'm equally disappointed about those years that are blank. We had three kids in those years that are virtually nonexistent in pictures and notes.
In 2016, I started a new blog on Wordpress in a hope that it would once again inspire me to keep up posting and documenting about our lives. And once again I was good for a time, but then it trickled off to nothing. In those times of drought, I'd often think about writing something or posting an update, but I never seemed to make it happen.
As part of my New Years Resolutions, I wanted to update, daily if possible, our family blog. Originally (starting my resolution), I continued over on Wordpress, but I've come to realize that no one was seeing it. Then, talking with my mom she asked me, "Why did you switch?". And honestly, I didn't have a really good answer or any answer really. I realized I needed to consolidate both blogs. I'm working to convert all my posts from Wordpress to blogger. So my deepest apologies if you're email was blowing up with two-and-a-half-year-old posts. And I continue to apologize as the changeover continues with about 25-30 more posts I've yet to do.
I'd also like to fill in some holes were possible from time to time. I hope you will enjoy the trip down memory lane with me when those posts happen.

Brianna went back to preschool today. She woke up with a small cold and I didn't think anything of it, gave her some cold medicine, and sent her on her way. When I picked her up her teacher, Mrs. Melissa, told me she had been complaining that she wasn't feeling well. Which for her means she really wasn't feeling well. Usually, she just goes on with life full speed ahead, stopping now and then for a tissue and cough syrup. I gave her more medicine after preschool, ate some lunch, and she got a little nap while we picked up kids from school. She seemed on the mend this evening, as she was full of energy and didn't want to go to bed.
I have been having fun working on my penmanship/calligraphy. I've been looking up fun "fonts" to write and have been practicing writing those, but what I'm really enjoying is getting my normal handwriting better. Then I can embellish that more to make it into a calligraphy style of writing. It's been crazy to look up how well people write and see how crazy good their handwriting is. One post/person actually said they'd been asked on several occasion if they typed out assignments that were supposed to be handwritten. Their writing was THAT precise.
My older girls are getting into it too. Addy is working on her penmanship in print and learning how to write in cursive. They don't teach that at school anymore (which I think is a shame) since everything is digital now, they just expect you to be able to write, doesn't matter how well, and you can type the rest. She's coming along and I've been impressed by her sticking with it even when she gets frustrated because she wrote a "g" yet again instead of a "q". Kyra mostly just likes being able to add dimension to her words (think how when you see calligraphy some strokes are thin and some lines are thick). She bought herself some brush markers to help her write how she likes.
Yesterday, three of my kids (Addy, Griffin & Joselyn) came home with birthday invitations. YAY! And each one was scheduled on a Sunday. BOOO! They were all disappointed they wouldn't be able to go, but I was pleasantly surprised that not one of them complained when I told them they wouldn't be able to go. PARENT WIN!!!
Ryan is still crazy busy with work stuff and working longer hours than either one of us likes. He's hoping that things calm down next week and he can get back to a normal, I'm home for dinner, schedule. And that the changeover to his new job is completed soon, so he doesn't have to keep spending extra time on stuff from his old position.
