SCOTTIE BRANCH

Scottie Branch is a sister in our ward who requires dialysis three times a week. Dialysis takes a lot out of her and by the time she’s feeling better it’s time for another round. Her husband is able to drop her off on his way to work, but not pick her back up after her procedure. So the Relief Society has stepped in to take care of giving her a ride home.
Sister Branch is such a loving, caring, sweet, kind and gentle woman. Beautiful inside and out. It breaks my heart to see her suffer as she does and to hear how hard it is on her every day. And despite how rotten she feels every day, she arrives at church each week with a smile on her face and her faith alight. She has been blessed with many miracles along her journey and hopefully will continue to be blessed. She is undergoing testing right now to see if she is eligible for a kidney transplant. If she is and can find a donor then she will no longer have to do dialysis and be able to really live her life again.
I have volunteered a couple times to drive her home and will continue to do so. She is so grateful for the rides she receives. Each time she has offered to buy my kids and I lunch from McDonald’s (it’s right across the street from the dialysis center) and each time I think- this woman is going through so much, suffering in ways I cannot even imagine and here she is offering ME a service by buying my kids and I lunch! I don’t want to discourage others from giving service, even though it may not be necessary or I think I don’t need it, I graciously accept and thank her repeatedly.
Moral of the story- the Lord places people in our lives to enhance and bless us. We are placed in people’s lives for the same reason. Give and receive service graciously and humbly and you will be blessed!
