PRADO ART MUSEUM- MADRID

The Prado Art Museum is an enormous museum filled with European artwork from the 12th to the 20th Century. The artwork ranged in size from small to huge (floor to ceiling, wall to wall- 10x18 FEET, give or take).

The artwork of the time consisted of naked plump babies, semi-nude men and women, still life, landscapes, statuary, and depictions of angels and Christ. It was all beautiful and amazing at how vibrant the colors and how detailed it all was. It gave me an appreciation for talent and skill involved, but not only that, I was impressed by their ability to have the tools and paints to do such work during a time that most don't consider "advanced".

We weren't supposed to take pictures of the artwork...oops! But didn't realize that beforehand and took a few before security caught us. After a few hallways, the work seemed to blend together as hallway after hallway had much of the same themes.

However, the one painting that caught our attention and made us giggle (We are a bit of an irreverent bunch!) was the "Creation of the Milky Way". (I'll let you look it up on your own if you want to see it- search "Prado" and "Creation of the Milky Way", but be forewarned- partial nudity).

If you appreciate art, talent, and want to see some amazing 12th-20th-century art, this place is a must see.
