Before going to Spain a friend of mine told me that I HAD to see a flamenco dance/show. Fortunately just down the street from where we were staying was a small theater showcasing "Carmen" a Flamenco Ballet. It was amazing!!!
Flamenco is similar to tap dancing, clogging, Irish step dancing, etc. Each has its own style and Flamenco is no different. I think of all of them Flamenco is much harder when they tap/hit. It was more of a stomp at times to the point it shook the stage and building. There are added elements of clapping and a fan that separates it from the other tap style dances.
I am so glad it was recommended because I don't think we would have stopped to see this quintessential Spanish style dancing.
