Brianna got a birthday weekend more than a birth-DAY. Her birthday this year fell on a Thursday and Thursdays are notoriously busy days for us, so her celebration got pushed to the weekend.
On Thursday we celebrated by breaking out into the birthday song whenever possible. Ryan and I just couldn’t believe she was ONE! It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago.
Saturday was another fun-filled and jam-packed day for us.
- Mom needed a new phone since hers finally bit the dust a week before we were eligible for a new one. Very impressed it lasted as long as it did in the shape it was in, but annoying for the one week it wasn’t working (wouldn’t recognize the touch screen).
- Kyra needed her glasses fixed- one of the arms fell off and it needed a new screw.
- Grand opening at Sweet Frog frozen yogurt- a must since they were having a 50% off sale!
- Bluebonnet Trail and pictures (another post here)
We did the ice cream (frozen yogurt) because 50% OFF and it was another way to celebrate Brianna’s birthday! Sweet Frog is a frozen yogurt place where you fill your bowl as desired with your choice of flavored frozen yogurt and then you can choose from 60 various toppings. It is then weighed and you pay based on the weight of your bowl. Needless to say, it can get expensive fast, so mom and dad help fill the bowls with appropriate amounts of frozen yogurt and limit the topping choices to three.
Sunday we finally had time for presents. It’s a good thing she’s one and presents aren’t on her “must have” radar yet since they had been sitting on the TV cabinet for about three days at this point. And Grandma and Grandpa Zielke’s present was delivered when they visited over spring break. The original wrapping didn’t make it, but we kept her (and her big sisters- Joselyn and Layla) from playing with it until it was officially present time. Both sets of grandparents sent cards and a gift. Mom bought a gift on Grammie’s behalf with the money she sent in Brianna’s card.
I was really impressed with how well Brianna unwrapped her presents. With our other kids, there was a lot more “helping”. Brianna just needed a starting point and occasionally a restarting point to keep going until the wrapping was off.
Once the wrapping and packaging were all off of the toys ALL the kids enjoyed playing with Brianna’s gifts. Brianna is enjoying her new toys…when her siblings let her play with them.
