This year I wanted to do something a little different for our Advent Calendar. I didn't want everyday to start or end with more chocolate. So our Advent calendar is filled with activities, instead of chocolate.

I made a list of activities that we can do. Each day the girls get to pick a card and see what activity they get to do that day. The first day was the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Day 1- Decorating for Christmas
This year the girls were really excited about decorating for Christmas and were really helpful putting the tree together.
Griffin and Joselyn were put to bed, since they were tired and it was past bed time. Don't worry though, they've been helpful in their own way in re-decorating the tree.

We don't have a real tree, so the kids get a kick out of putting the limbs on, spreading out the branches and putting it all together.

Mom put the lights up on the windows and put up the stockings.

Daddy put the lights on the tree and the girls, ever so excited, helped put the orniments on. I think it took us about 15 minutes to put on the ornaments, they were so excited to help and put them on.
I think it looks lovely.

As the days have gone by we've had some ornament movement. Having a 1-year-old and 2-year-old is not conducive to safe ornaments. Thankfully, we were wise to put the breakable ones near the top and the more sturdy ones down low. However, our tree is looking a little bare near the bottom as ornaments seem to disappear (thank you, Griffin and Joselyn) and reappear closer to the top (thank you, Addy and Kyra).
