Here's our story and some fun pictures and commentary to keep it interesting.

Over the weekend of June 12th we took a trip to Houston to see baby Mason get his baby blessing. We like to try to get to the blessings we can and we've been fortunate that my sister and I live close enough that we can do this for most of the kids.

Upon returning home on Monday we found our home to be over 90 degrees inside. After adjusting the thermostat to the desired setting and turning all the fans on high we set off for bed. After several hours it was still very warm in the house and it was discovered that the A/C wasn't working. To make matters worse, the weather reports were showing our first wave of 100+ degree days of the summer.

(Addy enjoying some wet outdoor fun with her siblings and cousins.)
~~~
We called the home insurance company, who then set up an appointment for later that day for a technician to stop by. Kim took the kids out to cool off at the pool while Ryan worked from home and waited for the technician. He came by and diagnosed it as an electrical issue. The electrician stopped by and diagnosed it as an A/C issue. A third technician came by said our system is old and worn out, but they would see about replacing the compressor first.
~~~
Tuesday, insurance company OK'd the new compressor and the part was ordered. Kim and the kids headed to the pool and Ryan went to work. Wednesday, Ryan went into work and Kim and the kids took off for the pool once again. Thursday, Kim took the kids to the Aquarium to do something out of the sun, since they were all a bit sunburned.
~~~
(-from left to right- Maggie, Addy, Kyra and Ellie enjoying seeing each other again and playing in the water. Take note of the "water slide" they're on.)
~~~
On Friday, the compressor came and was installed. After many hours of sitting in the house while four months pregnant and with all the kids, the A/C still didn't work. We essentially kicked the technician out (he'd been working for 4.5 hours on a 2.5 hour job) when it just got to be too hot inside for us.
~~~
(The kids loved being together and playing. Sometimes it got to be too much love!)
~~~
Kim had hit her limit! She (very quickly) packed up, told Ryan she was heading to Houston, got the kids in the car and took off. Ryan was on his way to spend the night with the scouts for their last night at Scout Camp. So, for the second weekend in a row Kim and the kids found themselves hanging out at Grammy and Papa's house.
~~~
(Griffin getting some sun and watching the water fun.)
~~~
On Saturday another technician came out to re-diagnose that our evaporator coil was shot and needed to be replaced. More calls were then made to our ever frustrating insurance company to get that ordered and fixed. Since it was the weekend the part couldn't be ordered until Monday and then we had to wait a day or two before it would be delivered and installed.
~~~
(All the kids -minus Mason, who was too small to swim yet- swimming in Grandma Weber's pool. She was wonderful to let us chill in her pool and be invaded by seven crazy kids.)
~~~
Poor Ryan was stuck at home dealing with the technicians while Kim and the kids stayed cool and dealt with the phone calls, oh, the phone calls!!!
~~~
(Addy rockin' the goggles.)
~~~
On Tuesday, some guys came by to install the evaporator coil. The evaporator coil is located in the attic. So these poor guys were stuck on our attic for 6+ hours trying to get this new part to work with our antiquated system on a day that reached 100+ degrees outside. And to make matters worse, after a fee to the tune of $1200 for costs not covered by the insurance, the A/C still didn't work!!!
~~~
(Papa is in there somewhere...we think! "Papa? You OK in there? Papa?!")
~~~
So, now we wait...again. For a part...again. To be put in our system...again. In the hope that this will fix our A/C.
~~~
(Griffin and I chillin' in the pool and hangin' in the shade to keep cool. Griffin tolerated the floaty we put him in, but much preferred being held in the pool. He's become quite the water baby this summer.)
~~~
With half our system having been replaced piece by piece at this point the insurance company OK'd the instillation of a new condenser. This will replace the outdoor unit and the compressor they put in last Thursday.
~~~
(Kyra swimming without arm floaties. She wasn't too sure about this, but with her becoming more adventurous this summer and allowing her head and face to get wet, it was time to try learning how to swim. She's done pretty well and just needs to keep practicing.)
~~~
We have been blessed during this saga with great friends who took us in at night so we'd have a cool place to sleep. We also had some good friends let us borrow a portable A/C unit that we used in the girls' room to try an keep them cool at night. To all our friends who let us invade your homes or offered assistance, we thank you!
~~~
(My cutie-pie little man!)
(My big swimming girl!)
(My sweet girl!)
~~~
Thursday: After waiting all day for the technicians to arrive, they finally got there about 6pm to put in the condenser.
~~~
(Griffin and Grammy sharing a Popsicle in the pool.)
(Griffin thought that Popsicle was pretty awesome and stole it from Grammy. He managed to suck down two whole popsicles all by himself.)
~~~
By 8:30-9:00 that night we had a working A/C!!!!!!!!!!
~~~
(Kyra and Griffin watching "The Little Mermaid" again. Griffin wasn't too fond of that movie by this point and even less fond of being held.)
~~~
The decision had been made. With our A/C working...FINALLY...we were going home!
~~~
(Addy-girl. She was a bit excited with the dogs while we were there and was lucky to not come away with a little nip or bite to show for her enthusiasm. The poor dogs were pretty happy to see us go.)
~~~
Kim and the kids packed up and by 9am Friday morning, we headed home. We got home safe and sound around 3pm to see Ryan and enjoy a functioning Air Conditioner.
Thank you so much for everything Grammy and Papa. We appreciate your willingness for us to invade your home and taking care of us, while we got this whole thing taken care of. We love you!
