Well I (Kim) officially turned 30 this year. I don't think I was dreading it or anything, but just the idea that I was no longer in my twenties took a little getting used to.
I had a great day. Ryan's folks came down for the weekend and to celebrate with us. My mother-in-law, Cindy, and I went to get pampered while the guys and the kids stayed home to pay taxes and play (respectively).
We both had Pedicures, massages and, I, got a much needed hair cut. We had a great and relaxing time. Even if the hair stylist was warned repeatedly that it would take FOREVER (it actually took about 90 minutes) to straighten my hair, but did so anyway.
My new due. It took a little getting used to, since I haven't had my hair this straight in nearly 10 years. I kept running my hands through it. A novel event since I usually have some sort of hair product in it and can't do that usually without getting stuck.
After we returned from the Spa, we sat down to enjoy some birthday cake. I decided on some lemon cake with lemon frosting...very yummy, especially when paired with a bit of ice cream. Kyra and Addy (even though you can't see her) helped me blow out my candles.
I then, with a little help from my little helpers, opened my gifts. David and Cindy gave me a Nook (an e-reader) with a Barnes and Nobles gift card and Ryan gave me a gift card to buy some books and accessories for my new toy. It was totally unexpected. I've been wanting an e-reader as of late and was totally shocked to actually get one.
To let the girls burn off some pent up energy we dashed off to the park to play. Kyra has gotten pretty good about swinging by herself. Addy loved this little seat to swing in.
Grandpa and Addy had fun racing on the side by side slide. Addy enjoyed finding new ways to get up onto the playground and having grandpa follow. Some were great fun for a 2 year old, but no so much fun for grandpa. :) :)
Here is everyone (sans myself and Addy) testing out their balance and motor skills as they tried to stay on each toy without holding on. Not as easy as it looks. Those things are tricky!
For dinner we left the kids at home with a babysitter while the adults partied at the Melting Pot. Ryan and I have been here several of times and I seem to be pregnant almost every time I come.
Me and my hubby!!!
Here we all are eating our second course. While all of it was amazingly good, my favorite course was the chocolate fondue...shocker, I know!
Thank you to every one: Ryan, my mom and dad, in-laws and kids for making my entry into my thirties so special. Love you all!
