New Year's Parade- 2009

For New Year's Day we decided to head to downtown Dallas (Westend District) to see the Dallas New Year's Parade. Our kids LOVE parades and are very excited whenever we get to go see them. This one wasn't any different.

Kyra and Mom waiting for the show to get started.

Still waiting.......
Kyra was bored so she decided to climb the stroller and Addy, well, Addy just took a nap.

The Pre-Parade Entertainment.
These guys were loud, crazy and entertaining. They only had a drum corps to provide the music. They danced, twisted and twirled to each beat. Did I mention they were LOUD!?!?
Addy slept right through it!

Don't you just love a man in uniform...

...or a kilt?!?!?!
I am one of the few people in the world who enjoys listening to the bag pipes. Maybe it's my Scottish heritage or the great memories I have of my family when bagpipe music was playing, but I get all warm and fuzzy inside whenever I hear them.

They had all sorts of fun things to see in the parade. Here are few examples...

~~~
They had bands GALORE!!! Every other group was a band, it seemed. They weren't just local high school bands or college bands, but they were from all over. This band came all the way from IOWA.
(I bet they enjoyed it. It was nearly 70 degrees outside that day. I don't think it was nearly that warm in Iowa...brrr.)
The parade was fun, even if it was a bit long. The kids got a little disinterested near the end. (Only so many band you can see and hear before they all start looking and sounding the same.)
Here are the kids being uninterested...
The End!
