Christmas at the Zielke's- 2008: Part 5- Christmas Morning

Christmas Morning:

The tradition in the Zielke home goes as follows. First thing Christmas morning you wait until everyone is up. We debated for a little bit at what time that would be. Some were arguing for 9am and those with small children that wake up before dawn were arguing for 6am. We informed those arguing for 9 that they were more than welcome to entertain our children until 9 rolled around. With that thought they consented to 6.

We then all come downstairs we look at the Santa gifts and our stockings. We take a short break to eat a yummy breakfast and then open the gifts to one another.

We were all excited, but Kyra was really excited for Santa Claus to come and I had to threaten her that he wouldn't if she didn't go to sleep.

In my family Santa wraps his gifts in white tissue paper. I am happy to say that he has kept that tradition up with our children.

Mom Zielke got up extra early to rearrange gifts to make it easier to pass them out. She paper coded all the gifts. Everyone had their gifts wrapped in a single type of paper.

Stockings were packed and waiting for each of us.
My mom lovingly made our stockings.
It's still kind of weird not seeing my name on my stocking.

The Clements' family.

Kerstin and Kyle's stockings.

I have over 400 pictures from various cameras of Christmas morning so I picked a handful of them for everyone to see. I tried to get a little of everyone. Enjoy!

Our big gift was a digital camera from Mom and Dad Zielke. It was much needed and much loved. Mom and Dad McPherson got us a GPS so we wouldn't get lost getting from place to place. We love that too and has proven handy on a number of occasions already.

A magnetic letter and phonics toy. Kyra liked it and really liked sticking it to the washer or refrigerator.

Grammy McPherson got my girls little computers. Addy isn't quite sure what to do with hers quite yet, but she still loves to play with it.

The girls got princess shoes. They love walking around and clanking them on the floor.

Not an overall great picture of us, but it shows some of our loot. Santa (with a hint from Gramma Zielke) also brought each of the girls Curious George dolls. They really enjoyed those too.

Kyle made this box for mom and dad Zielke. It was really impressive and really well made.

Kerstin is looking to start working out come the new year and so much of her gifts were exercise related.

Dad Zielke got a really nice new robe from mom.

I made all of our neices and nephews hooded towels. Here is Hailey modeling hers.

Robert seemed to like his as well.

This a fun present from Santa. Unfortunately it only comes with one pen, but the kids like to play with it anyway.

I think Kyra's favorite gift was her new digital camera. It took an amazingly large number of pictures. Only about 10% of those are worth keeping and eats up batteries like nothing else. It is awesome and all the kids loved taking pictures. It was great when Kyra would walk around and ask everyone, repeatedly, if she could take their picture. Too fun.

Ryan got a "head" light to wear when he's running. He's training to run various marathons and usually runs when it's dark, so I was happy to see that he got something that will allow him to see where he's going and allow others to see him running.

We had a wonderful Christmas. Thank you everyone for everything you gave us and the pleasure of being together.

Merry Christmas!!!!
