Diaper Rash

Adeline gets the gnarliest (sp?) diaper rash ever. It's mean, angry, ugly, red, painful and long lasting. It usually lasts a week or more and we go through a large tube of diaper cream per rash. It was still around at Addy's last doctor's appointment and the doctor suggested letting her wander around without a diaper a bit each day. It's so hot here that the diaper area is a great place for heat rashes, yeast infections and diaper rash to show up and hang on strong.

It's so sad when she gets a diaper rash. She cries a cry that literally takes her breath away and makes her so sad. However, she really likes going without a diaper. She is even starting to figure out the diaper and tying to pull it off. So far no success.

Cute little tushy!!!
She absolutely loves this blanket. G-ma Zielke gave it to us and I put it in Addy's crib one night and she hasn't given it up since. Given the chance she'll drag it everywhere she goes.

Once she gets over the initial torture of diaper changing, a little lovin' from the mama (no one else will do), with the blanket of course, she is off to play.

Just another cutie patutie picture of my sweet Adeline. She likes to chew/suck on her blanket and when that's not available her shirt is a nice substitute. She's getting some molars so she's been chewing and sucking on things a lot more as of late.

"Mama!!!!!!!!! Kyra stole my blankie!!!!!!!!!!!"

Time out because she didn't give it back.

"Na na na na!!! You're in time out!"

Time out is over and I told Kyra to give me a cute smile. This is what she did. I love it!

Addy finally got her blanket back.

At lunch time the kids were being cute so I grabbed the camera.
Addy likes to feed herself. She is becoming quite the independent little one. Unfortunately she usually gets her hands all messy, then because it's almost nap time and she's tired she rubs her eyes and face, thus the "Phantom of the Opera" look.

"Here, mama, take a bite. It's really good."

Kyra wanting in on the action. I love this one too because she wants her picture taken, she's smiling nicely, but can't help but lick the sauce from her lips as I take the picture.

This past Sunday I wanted to do something super cute with Kyra's hair. She has great hair! So on the days we can get her to sit still long enough I can do things like this to it.

Just another view. I think she really likes the end product, but sitting still is not her forte. She looked soooooo cute for church.

By the way. The diaper rash is almost gone...thank goodness!!!

My suggestion for the diaper rash situation... I know from experience on this one... Use aquafor, vaseline or A&D ointment on her every time you change her diaper, especially with the first signs of the rash. It creates a barrier so the poo doesn't even touch her little toosh!
