Many of you have asked what we've been up to. Most of the time when people ask I just say, "nothing much." And for us that is usually true. Ryan goes to work and the girls and I stay home. Some days we (ok, I) clean or do other household chores, some days we go to one of Lewisville's local water parks, some days we have friends over or go to friend's homes. Usually our days run together and we can't really tell one from another. Hence the infrequent posts.
But we have been up to a few things out of ordinary from our usual day to day stuff. After we returned home from Iowa we spent a short couple of days at home doing laundry and we jumped back into the car for Houston. My youngest baby brother graduated from High School!!! Good news is that that is the end of graduations for a while...until my brothers start graduating from college.
Once we returned home I got adventurous and put both the girls in the same room. After nearly two weeks of sleeping in the same room I figured it was time. At first all we would hear is giggling and playing. Then we realized that we needed to put one to bed first and then the other. Since Kyra can take upwards of 3 hours to finally go to sleep, we opted to put Adeline down first. That worked until Kyra would be put to bed and wake Addy up and the giggling and playing would start. So now we put them to bed at the same time in separate rooms and move them back later. It seems to work for us, but we know that they will have to eventually figure out going to sleep in the same room at the same time.
One night I walked in to Kyra and Addy's room because the light was on. Usually a sign of trouble and this is what I found.
Addy celebrated her first birthday on July 3rd of this year. As is custom, we went out for the birthday girl's celebratory dinner. As seems to also be customary in the McPherson family "Olive Garden" was our locale of choice.
If you look closely over her right eye you can see the big ol' bruise she received when she and the cement had a meeting two days before. Over her left eye you can see the red mark she received when her head meet the side of a friend's pool. Oh, and did I mention the 3 shots and the drawn blood she received earlier that day at the doctor's? Yep, so far quite the birthday!
That weekend we journeyed to Houston once more. We had originally planned to celebrate at home, but we really wanted to be able to share the day with family and us going to them was the only way that was going to happen. It was really nice to see family and to let our girls play with their cousins.
The celebratory day was spent in the neighborhood pool and having fun at Grammy's house. We also opened gifts...
Her Gramma and Grampa Zielke gave her a Savings Bond. Very sweet and should be helpful come college tuition time. (sniff, sniff...the thought of my baby going off to college!)
After opening presents and Papa returned home from his scouting camp out, we headed out for dinner and water. We ate at "Mission Burrito." A burrito place very similar to "Chipotle." Around back in this shopping center they have a little water garden. Water shoots up and the kids love it. Addy especially loves to play in the water and get splashed, unintentionally of course.
Here are pictures of all the kids playing in the water.
Happy Birthday my sweet Adeline!
