I have been hobbling around the last couple of days with what I think may be a broken toe. You ask yourself, "How in the world did she break her toe?" Well, let me tell you...picture a lovely Tuesday afternoon...
I was sitting on the couch when Ryan's mom (visiting for her spring break from the American tundra called Iowa) calls me into the kitchen. I inform her that I am coming and precede to walk toward the kitchen. Between me and the kitchen stands a Jumperoo about 8-12 inches from the corner of the couch. I decide that I would walk between the couch and Jumperoo seeing as it was the shortest path between the kitchen and myself. As I step between the two objects I get my right foot through without a problem and lift my left foot to follow suit, when I hear and feel (in this exact order) a thud, of my foot, my little/pinky toe to be exact, hitting the couch, a pop of what I assumed was the nuckle, and then the pain of kicking said couch.
I shake it off and gimp into the kitchen figuring the pain would subside in a few minutes. Unfortunately I was mistaken as hours later I am still gimping around and my poor little pinky toe has swollen to twice its normal size and is starting to develop a nice bruise. The following pictures were taken this morning, two days after "the incident"...
Lovely isn't it?!?! Needless to say that this has definitely put a crimp in our style this week as Ryan's mom likes to be out and about and we had plans to visit the zoo with the girls. :~( :~( :~(
On to other injuries in the last few weeks, but first a little good news. I think, hope, pray that Kyra is officially potty trained, despite my lack of enthusiasm and encouragement. She has been really, REALLY good about telling me she needs to go and actually going (in the potty) without announcing it to everyone within earshot. And to top it off only 2-3 accidents a week instead of a day. That is progress kids and if I'm on top of it only 1-2 accidents a week. Way to go Kyra!!!
On one of these described mornings I hear rumblings in the bathroom. I yell for Kyra to get out of the bathroom as she likes to play in the water when left to her own devices. She shouts back informing me that she is actually going potty. A little smile crosses my face as I let her be. During this time Addy has made her way into the bathroom to be apart of the events. A short time later I hear water running and only assume it's Kyra washing her hands. Not long after that I hear a screaming wail of pain coming from Addy and race into the bathroom to see what happened. It turns out that the water I heard was not the sink, but the tub. The water was scalding hot and Kyra was cought red handed with a cup with a few drops of scalding water in it. Addy and her jammies, however, were drenched from the top of her head down to her diaper in what I can only assume was what started off being a full cup of scalding hot water.
I strip off Addy's jammies, turn off the water, put Kyra in time-out and love on my poor baby. Addy was fine. She had a strip of red, sun-burned like skin down her back, but that faded after a few hours. Kyra was able to come out of time-out after an undisclosed amount of time and all was well.
Now onto why you all really read this blog. PICTURES OF THE BABES!!!
