Ryan has known them since their beginning and they have known us since ours. That is over SIX years, baby!!! So when we heard that they were finally going to "tie the knot" we knew we couldn't miss it.
They got married on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 2:00pm. Katie was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and Ben didn't look so bad either. The wedding took place in a quaint little Abbey/Chapel in Justin, TX. The ceremony was conducted by Ben's father who, once upon a time, was a preacher.
The ceremony itself was short and to the point. The exchanging of vows and rings didn't take too much longer either. All told it took about 30 minutes. Which is good because our kids were invited to attend the nuptials also. Kyra and Addy weren't the only kids there. Some friend of ours (and obviously friends of the bride and groom) were there, too, with their kids. Since we all had kids and knew each other we sat together during the reception at a table we affectionately named "The Kiddy Table."
The reception took place directly after the wedding in an adjoining section of the building. It was a smallish wedding with about 135 in attendance. It had all the hallmarks of a good reception. Music, dancing, food, and LEGO'S! YES, LEGO'S!! This gives you a glimpse of who Ben and Katie are. Each place setting was given a little bag filled with a handful of Lego's to put together. You were either given a set that made a Lego replica of the cake or a chapel. Once those were built the true fun began as people combined sets to make larger, more elaborate structures. "The Kiddy Table" won first place (unofficially) with a double steeple chapel.~~~~~

Kyra had a TON of fun dancing. Her favorite dance partner was the bride's mother, Renee. She, herself, would love to have grandkids, but has yet to have any. She welcomed the chance to be a pretend grandma to the youngins that were there. Kyra took full advantage of it. (I think she may miss her grandmas).
Later that evening they finally made their get away amid a barrage of bubbles. Ryan and I had bubbles blown at us when we were leaving our reception also. (I think they stole our idea, but I can't prove it ;) ).
(That's suppose to be an "E" not a "3")The whole event was wonderful. The kids, while active were pretty good also. We had to run a bit of interference when it came to the table with the cake, but otherwise it was pretty kid friendly as far as weddings go. It's been a long time since I've been to a wedding and it was great to go. It brought back memories from when Ryan and I got married and what a wonderful time of our lives that was.
Ben and Katie- Congratulations! Cheers! And welcome to the club!We love you both. May your marriage be filled with happiness and love.
