Ms. Picasso's Self Portrait

Let me start with last night...
Kyra went to bed at her a little later than her normal time of 7. However, that did not keep her spirits down. She was awake, pounding on her door and crying for "maaamaaa" and "daaadyyy" until after 9. By this time Addy had fallen asleep as well from a rough evening crying. On these occasions only mama will do (Ryan does put in a valiant effort to try and comfort her, but she doesn't budge. She wants mama!). Addy then usually wakes up for a feeding about 10:30. She is pretty consistent about it too, so I decide that another hour of TV watching wouldn't hurt. Well, 10:30 rolls around, then 11, then 11:30. All the while I'm thinking "any minute now she'll wake up and want to eat, so I'll just wait to go to bed until then." I finally crawl into bed at midnight.

Don't let this precious picture fool you. This little angel was up, screaming most of the night, from 3am to just before 6am. I usually get up and feed her and if she hasn't fallen asleep after an hour from when she woke up, I will wake Ryan up to put her to sleep. This night/morning was no different. She woke up at precisely 3:00 to eat, so I get up. At about 4:15 I'm exhausted and wake Ryan up to finish putting Addy to sleep. Addy did NOT appreciate the changing of the guards and preceded to scream the entire time Ryan had her. He tried a bottle, he tried rocking her, he tried walking with her, he tried everything he could. Finally about 5, I wake up and try to relieve him. By this time Addy had worn herself out and was finally going to sleep. So there we all are Ryan, Addy and myself asleep on the couch. I wake up 30 minutes later with a kink in my neck and usher us all to bed. Addy woke up again the moment we put her down in bed. I took the 3rd watch, put her to sleep, laid her down, made sure she was really asleep, and fell back into bed just before 6.

She has been doing this since birth. She will sleep really well in the early evening through sometime between 1am and 5am, then it's wake up time. Then she will sleep in until sometime between 7 and 9. This was taken about 8:30 this morning.

This sets the stage for our little artist to work her magic.
Kyra woke up, thus waking Ryan and I up, at 7 this morning. Both of us are completely exhausted from the adventures of the 3am feeding. Ryan gets up and gets ready for work and I get up, get Kyra situated with "Curious George" and I precede to pass out on the couch.

What I didn't realize was that I had left a full set of permanent markers on the desk where she could reach them. With the stealth of a B-2 stealth bomber she finds said markers and begins to create her masterpiece. A self portrait of herself.

She had marker everywhere. On her hands, arms, legs, shirt and mouth.

This will teach me to sleep when she is free to roam and get into stuff. :)
