Spring Break

What a break it was and much needed. We spent most of the week with the McPherson family having a sort of Family Reunion/Vacation. We left Tuesday after Ryan got off of work and headed down to Katy, TX. Kyra took a really long nap before the drive, so she was awake the whole time. She was surprisingly good the whole 5 hour drive stuck in her car seat. Once there we enjoyed seeing everyone (except Pat- sniff, sniff). Kyra and Ellie enjoyed reuniting and getting to know each other.

We left for Surfside, TX late Wednesday morning. It was very cool to drive over a bridge and come off on the other side staring at the ocean. The house we stayed at was VERY nice. It had three bedrooms (one with a king bed, one with a queen and one with 2 bunk beds). My parents had the master bedroom [I guess since they paid the bill they should have that room]. We had the room with the queen bed and put Kyra in the closet (with the door ajar) so she couldn't see us and would sleep better. Dan, Erin and kids had the bunk beds. The owners made the place look very nice. They had a big, flat screen T.V., jacuzzi, satellite, Karaoke (which Ryan found on the last night),and the nicest of everything. The decorations were mostly beach themed, but for a beach house how else would you decorate.

The weather during the week was very nice. It averaged in the 70's all week with a constant ocean wind. The water was chilly, but a few of the more adventurous went swimming and body surfing. The only bummer was that since Kim is pregnant the ocean and jacuzzi were off limits.

Kyra is a natural beach girl. We litterally had to hold her back to keep her out of the water. She had no fear and would go running head long into the surf. She and Ellie had a blast playing in the sand and playing games in the water.

Kyra loved playing in the water and splashing about in the waves with her mom and dad. It was pretty fun to watch her as the little waves, that would bearly reach the middle of our shins, nearly knocked her over when they hit her at her waist. Never fear mom and dad to the rescue.

It only got really cold and windy on one day. That day we played in the sand and tried to keep the kids warm (and dry).

Kim enjoyed helping Papa build sand castles and helping the girls knock them down. She longed for the jacuzzi, but was content with only going knee deep in the cold ocean water.

It was a very nice vacation for us all. It is something that will be repeated in our little family as it continues to grow.
