House Hunting

Yes, you read correctly...House Hunting. We are tired of apartment living and we want out!!! We decided this after a fierce battle with ants (yes the same ones that Kim absolutely hates- see previous posting "Ant Bite"). We then realized that apartments suck when it comes to pest control and if one apartment has a problem odds are they all do. Not to mention the fact that our neighbors smoke like chimneys and we can smell the cigarette smoke every time we go into the bathrooms. Basically we don't want to have to share walls with strangers. We want a place of our own!!!

We have been out looking for houses a couple of times. The first outing was a disaster. The houses were small, with poorly designed floor plans, and not very well maintained. This time around (after a good look at our finances and determining exactly what we could afford) we decided to up our price range. This yielded much better results. As it is when you are looking for anything to your specific liking it can be hit or miss. As it was again today. Most of the houses were poorly maintained or not for us, but we did find one house that even had our realitor thinking about moving.

The main walkways- entry way, hallway, kitchen, bathroom and dining area- were all ceramic tile. All the other rooms were newly carpeted. It has two full sized bathrooms, two nicely sized "kids" rooms, and the master bedroom ain't too shabby either. It has a two car garage with access in the back of the house and doors that lead to the house and another to the back yard. The front and back yards are a good size for young kids to run around in and the back yard has a covered walkway/patio for entertaining. The only downers about the house are that is will need new kitchen appliances (fridge- not provided, stove top, double oven, and kitchen sink), the laundry room is more of a nook than a room, and it would need to be painted to colors more of our liking. These are all things that are resolvable and are acceptable "downers" for us.
